Timothy “Tim” Smallwood, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, NP-C, is excited to join the practice as a nurse practitioner who will see patients for their dermatologic health needs as well as patients for their cosmetic desires! Following graduation from Morehead State University’s Nurse Practitioner program, he earned dual certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). With his certification, he can diagnose and treat patients through all ages of life. Prior to joining the team at Modern Dermatology of KY & Cosmetic Specialists, Tim worked in healthcare for over 10 years starting as an EMT, Paramedic, and Registered Nurse prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
Tim is a proud native of Menifee County, Kentucky. He currently resides in Lexington, Kentucky with his “fur babies” who were rescued from the Lexington Human Society. In his spare time, he enjoys spoiling his nephews, Logan and Tucker, spending time with friends and family, traveling, going on cruises, and playing music (piano). He is active with various community groups and enjoys being able to give back to the community.
When asked why he wanted to join the practice, he stated, “A person’s skin is the largest organ of the body and the first defense mechanism. It is important for people to maintain and respect the health of their skin and be aware of conditions that need to be treated. I also have a desire to provide cosmetic services to all adult patients because I know many men and women have higher self-confidence after undergoing various cosmetic procedures.”
